Last week I tried my hand at cross stitching onto fabric using waste canvas. I used one of Littlemojo's patterns. The motif is a Gwyllgi, some monster which appears in Fire Emblem with the sprite ripped by Bonzai. The chart has three version of this creature, I split them into separate charts and figure how to calculate the size of complete work in metric because everything is in imperial.
First of all count all the square in the grid, this image is 60 by 61. Then divide in whatever count(I'm using 14 count) of material you are using and multiple by 2.5cm (1 inch is roughly 2.5cm, as stated on a ruler).
60/14 x 2.5 =10.7cm
Repeat for the other number, final estimated size is 10.7 cm by 10.9 cm Round up after the decimal point. I tried stitch calculations on a website it gave me small number then realised they must have inches and cm mixed up.
Because it there was a lot of black stitches I used an outline which gives the creature a glowing aura effect. The material used is 14 count waste canvas by Zweigart which is premium quality and only thing found in Hobbycraft. Out of 15 colours only about 12 can be seen, have a look at my gallery for more images.Unfortunately, Littlemojo's website is dead which is shame since I want to download some more. The pdf chart of this Gwyllgi can be found here, in the future I will upload all I managed to collect. If anyone else has Littlemojo's cross stitch pattern you should share them in your own blogs or sites. In the meantime I'll create some charts of my own if there is some way to export the key as separate image file rather than print and scan.
Yesterday, My mum decided to buy hamster as present for someone. We went to Pets at Home and I chose which breed to buy. This one is Chinese dwarf hamster and I think is the best for a beginner as they are docile suppose to be a rare breed yet there were loads in the shop.
This little one is called Cherry and she is only 8 week old.
Spent much of day hiding the little house, only at about 8.00 p.m did she come out to eat and play on the wheel.
Cherry is still settling in and not used to bright lights. A cover was placed on the cage to give her a sense of security. She tends to hide behind the wheel in corner of the cage.
She likes her a wheel and only go on it when the room is dark. In the morning, I checked the cage and it seems she has returned to her house to sleep. This cage can be extended with tubes. What we don't have is an exercise ball. I guess she is still settling in her new environment and not a good idea to keep a hamster in the bedroom because they are nocturnal and make a lot of noise. What I discovered is there are no obstacles except for the ones you place upon yourself, something to do with changing your mind set. After suffering a period of deep depression I realise I'm lucky as could of been worse. I guess I am lucky because when I phoned for doctor's appointment there was a free slot and everything was finished. How the chose of words can affect the outcome, this is something I'm discovering right now. Scientist think they can explain everything through equation but there are things no words can describe such as supernatural and this notion if synchronicity. What you wish for you will get but doesn't work all the the time. Then again it's always a constant battle with the voice in your head saying that 'it's all wrong'. This voice is not from the devil (losers of Alpha course think so.) but the left side of head, a trait from evolution. We don't have to keep an eye for predators now so there is no need to hold us back from our potential. The other day I realised what my vocation is not to be an artist because everyone is an artist at heart but to be creative and make art. I'm more a maker of art and crafts the lines of both an be blurred as there some artist who use craft in their work.
