Not another postal strike.
>> Friday, 9 October 2009
I'm still reeling from the last one, oh it seems yesterday was the start of another postal strike bring more chaos and disruption to the rest of country. The postal workers are complaining about Royal Mail that they cutting jobs and pension in the process of modernisation. I wouldn't blame them, you work hard to pay for bills and taxes only to find out you won't get your pension until 66? and might to slashed. All my life I'm not earning enough and never had a well paid job, happy to take anything which is £6.00 an hr or over. Took me a year to save up £1000, for this laptop, all in one printer, digital camera and the now aging PS2. Upgrading cost money, everything cost money this is the price of consumerism and capitalism yet the mass produced items are low quality, plastic, cheap and tacky. Handmade is the best.
In taking about fluxus, I almost overlooked a minor detail on the postcard Samuel sent me the rubberstamped messages sums it up. Fluxus has connection with DaDa and Arte Correo- Mailart although can branch into other media such as music. Yoko Ono was follower of the movement.
Can't seem how it fits into my art I did describe my art as neo-dada but seems to change into crafty yet retaining originality or sometimes my twisted sense of humour.
Below are more artist trading cards, 2 of which were created yesterday until 2 hours.
I'm trying to find a use of sprite I printed high definition on to matt photo paper, there's still lines from the printing. Currently experimenting with using watercolours, rubber/hand carved eraser stamps and ink sprays by Tim Holtz (not alcohol more dye inks) to avoid artist block caused by staring at blank piece of card. The 2 bottom atcs are for Witches atcs swap, I'm avoiding the stereotypical often derogatory term for a witch - pointy cat, black cat, ugly. Real witches are not those they label themselves as Wiccans, they chosen the wrong name as it means 'wicked'. I prefer use the term Pagan or not use a label at all.
Here's another rogue atc, I want to work on something larger because I tend to over collage obliterating the background completely, adding texture frames the whole image together. Don't know when I'll be able to start posting again as the Bristol Sorting office started protesting yesterday and today soon followed by the rest of country. Since mailart is not seen as urgent mail (which is wrong) otherwise I will have to use DHL or some other courier service costing more. Need to keep checking on this for further information one thing for sure we won't be having a merry christmas.
The hamsters now eat together in the same bowls seems they are still friends after all. Roger almost escaped he wriggled out my hand but caught him before he disappeared underneath the label. There was near disaster yesterday as he in the exercise ball and the lid came off. No new pictures of them yet as mostly Roger on the wheel doing 360.
