Collaged postcard and altered tickets

>> Tuesday, 3 November 2009

Another lot of items ready to be sent. I collect tickets, clothes labels and other paper ephemera but have no use for them other than to stick in a scrapbook. Particular interested in non Roman alphabet packaging such as Japanese, Tibetan but not really Chinese I have too many of them as it is and being my mother tongue. See, this why I can't tolerate racism because the so called jokes are wearing thin and so lame. Ignorance and stupidity does go hand in hand. Cultures thrive on diversity and connections.
I love using Birds and Nest rubber stamp because they are charming and nostalgic appeal. Normally tickets are too small to traded as atcs in discovering there is defied size.
This is recent postcard I created and will be sent to Stefano as part of Mailart in the World 2010 documented at http://mailartfossiant.blogspot.com . I was experimenting with colour glaze, metallic paints using a paperartsy splodger to spread runny PVA glue on the paper rather using paintbrush. Adding stamp background, Memories and Staz On are only inkpad I have which are permanent as normal dye ink does not dry on acrylic paint. There is the option to use Brilliance pigment inkpad but takes a while to dry. There's a wonderful book called Artist Trading Card workshop by Bernie Berlin, lots of inspiring projects to use on general collages as well. I hope to try out some of techniques on my own atcs. In this age of gadgets and technology there will always be place for mailart and snail mail correspondence. I just joined the yahoo group of IUOMA- International Union of Mailart to become further part of this community. While there are no strikes until Friday and next Monday I aim to do a batch and send them in my free time otherwise I return to want my current major project.
