Where I have been in the last 10 days

>> Monday, 8 March 2010

For the least 10 days I was on holiday in Hong Kong and needed a break from all those projects and the cold. I left on 22nd Feb and returned on 4th March. I have yet to take pictures of the stuff I acquired due to the short time I couldn't get all the things I wanted and because we were walking nearly every day my legs couldn't take it any more. We chose to fly with Cathay Pacific, I felt sick to and from Hong Kong there much interesting films or programmes to watch and the seats were awkward they slide out rather than push back. Food was okay but couldn't eat much. Below is a slide show of placed we went I didn't take these photos because of lack of decent rechargeable batteries.

The placed I managed to go are Kadoorie Farm in Lam Tsuen and Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Garden in Central actual Hong Kong Island. We missed our chance to go to Macau because no one felt like going and didn't managed to Ocean Park in Aberdeen for panda watching. There are some interesting animals in two places mentioned above. Kadoorie farm was mentioned on SPCA- Vets in Hong Kong programme, it felt like a visit to the Eden projects in Cornwall except the plants were in there natural environment. I could see mountains their peaks touching the clouds, the weather was sunny, very warm above 20 degrees and very humid with 88-92% humidity. Sleeping was difficult because of heat and being bitten by mosquitoes. There's only a few English speaking channels with some in Cantonese and Mandarin. There are a lot of Korean and Japanese dramas, a long with cheesy anime and Period dramas in which there are feminine looking me. I thought only in Japan did you have bishonens.
My sister made a comment if I will make the effort to learn Chinese, of course I would. What do you think I am? a culture shocked Brit in South of Spain who didn't bothered to learn the lingo beforehand.
I wouldn't like to travel with a person who constantly travel sick the moment we step out of the house.
One time we were dragged to Mong Kok to a restaurant where the dishes were served in toilets, bathtubs or wash basin and the seats were toilets. I guess this is import from Japan since a lot of Japanese stuff can be brought in Hong Kong. Why not travel to CTMA or Sino centre while you at it so I can get Japanese action figures. There was one point a me, my sister and her friend Gigi used a Japanese photo machines (cost HK$60), there's a time limit for each photo and they can be customised.
Sunday was Lantern festival and also was Chinese Valentine's day, it also a day some of ate pun choi, basically a large metal bowl full of meat, vegetables cook over a illegal stove. Each person took what they liked in the end it was too much and ended taking the metal bowl home. I was told to nap a Chicken bowl because of it's old design, either on Bargain hunt or Cash in the Attic I have seen similar English copying Chinese pottery (a lot of antiques are create in this style)in which stoneware was used because they didn't have the right clay to create porcelain. I was mostly tired because we had to sleep with the fan on because some idiot stole our mosquito nets. There was tiger imagery because it's a new year in the lunar calendar. I met up with my cousin James in Kwun Tong- APM shopping mall (each train stop has multi level shopping malls with designer stores). We ate at Red Ant apparent there was a singer called Sammi performing on stage she was promoting her new single. Me, I prefer my J Rock- the music stalls don't have Japanese band I like.
Coming home to England, it's surprisingly sunny and still cold. When the hamsters were returned to us they seemed put on a lot of weight. Rafa is as big as Roger. Luckily they weren't breed because the girl hamsters fought with each other. There will be some more photos later and will be uploaded to my flickr photostream.
